Middlesbrough Mosaic
Client: Barratt Homes Artist: Rosie SkaifeRosie Skaife has designed a beautiful mosaic, rich in detail and colour, for part of the re-development of the old Middlesbrough General Hospital site.
Her inspiration has come from the flora and fauna of the Linthorpe Cemetery on the other side of the road from the site. Birds, butterflies, trees and flowers have been used to draw attention to the natural life of the cemetery. The design is based on a roman idea - branches and other related elements arranged decoratively on a plain background.
As part of the project Rosie worked with the local primary school to run creative mosaic workshops.
